Tithing Testimonies

Tithing Was New To Us

We decided to take the tithing challenge. At first, we were a little concerned about accepting the challenge, mostly because it started right around the holidays. However, since we increased our tithing, we haven't been in need of anything! Every time we began to get worried about our finances something came through for us that relieved our worries.

For example, our computer crashed - then our neighbor unexpectedly brings over a FREE computer for us to have that he didn't want anymore! We've even seen it in our careers - we've both done better than we could have expected. Also, this year for the first time in probably 10 years, we are getting a tax refund!

He is truly a savior working in our lives and we are more than happy to let God handle our money from now.

Thank you so much!

A Couple Learning To Walk by Faith

God Gives Us Security

We’ve always given God credit for our job security; my husband’s the stickler in the family about tithing and we cannot deny we’ve been blessed.

Tithing and Self-Control

We started to tithe the first year that we married in the 1950's. Back then I was making about $52.00 a week. Our church was starting a building program and asked everyone to tithe. We have been faithfully tithing since that time and God has always provided more than we have ever needed.

It is obvious to me that God also expects us to live within our means, and just because people tithe and still spend recklessly, they will still have money problems.

A Newer Couple Tithing

Our story is that several years ago, our previous home church challenged our congregation to tithe. It was a big step of faith but we have never doubted our committment since. As a family we decided to tithe both our incomes to our home church as well as to towards supporting 2 families that are full time missionaries. The blessings that we have received our amazing. God does provide everything that we need.

Faithful Through Job Loss

Our story is a little different. As you know we have been financially challenged for the last few years. When I lost my job (again) I drew a line in the sand and we vowed to "tithe" $100/week. It seemed like not that much compared to what we had been able to give. We live from payday to payday and are just meeting our regular bills. We seldom eat out or buy anything that's not a necessity.

Yet our giving has become "automatic". I know we are one "event" away from a financial problem. But I look back and see how God has taken care of us.

So I can't say we’re really cheerful givers because we'd like to be able to give more. We are, however, faithful givers, trusting in God who we know has been faithful to us and will continue to be faithful.

Hope this helps,

Two Faithful Givers

Two Who Grew In Tithing

This is our story:

A few years after we were married we started attending a church and decided to start tithing. Our budget was pretty tight. So we started with a couple of percent. Then we moved up a little at a time. It didn’t even take us a year. Before that year was over, we had figured out that God was indeed blessing us as we gave.

We’ve been tithers (and a bit more) ever since that lesson.

And I don’t see us stopping. Why would we? God has been faithful in blessing us is so many ways. Only and idiot would stop.

Tithers For Decades

Tithing is something we’ve done since before we were married. Although there have been occasions when it seemed impossible, we tithed anyway. It was always our first expenditure after any income.

God has blessed us in that we have always had enough for our needs and to even cover some of our wants. Now that I am retired and our overall income has dropped, we are still able to give more than a tithe. We have learned that one of our responsibilities is to become careful stewards of our assets. Even today, when I wasn't certain how I was going to cover the cost of my medical supplement, an early payment of my pension arrived which took care of that expense.

I have never had to miss any meals and am in good health with a roof over my head and reliable transportation and a wonderful Church family with whom to worship.

God is good.

Tithing Brings Us Closer to God

We were blessed before and after tithing but I think the best thing about starting to tithe is that we feel closer to God. We feel that we are following what He says we should do and He is pleased with us. And it pleases us to please Him.
